Update a package correctly

Symptoms

• You want to update a package because the MoWeS Portable update function says there are newer versions available.

Applies to: MoWeS Portable II

Warning

• Do NOT apply this approach to application packages such as MediaWiki, TYPO3, or Wordpress or if you have customized the configuration of any server package

• Apply this approach ONLY to uncustomized server packages such as Apache 2 and PHP5.

• DO NOT APPLY THIS APPROACH TO MySQL. ALL YOUR MySQL DATA WILL BE LOST

• There is currently no approach to automatically update any application packages

• Always create a backup before installing / overwritting packages

Resolution

1. Stop MoWeS

2. Create a backup using the backup function

3. Exit MoWeS

4. Download the new package and put it in the same directory as the mowes.exe

5. Start MoWeS

6. Read the instructions carefully and follow them
