Change the MySQL root user (MoWeS Portable II)

Symptoms / Cause

• MySQL comes with the standard user "root" without a password as MoWeS is not intended for production use.

• You want to change the MySQL root user password to increase security.

Applies to: MoWeS Portable II with MySQL, Apache, PHP and phpMyAdmin.

Resolution

1. Start MoWeS Portable II

2. Open phpMyAdmin in your browser  (http://localhost/phpmyadmin)

3. Click on the "Priviliges" tab in phpyMadmin

4. Click on "Edit priviliges" for the first root user

5. Enter the password and repeat it (the same as you put in the packages.ini file!)

6. Press "Go"

7. Repeat for the second MySQL root user in the list

8. In MoWeS click on "Options".

9. Enter the password in the MySQL root password field.

10. Click Ok.
